- Note the bags of rubbish on the wall to prevent dogs from getting at
them. Neil going out of the gate to the road. |

Wire connections found all over Villa Alemana
- Villa Alemana. I am surprised that people are not electrocuted. These
wire connections are found all over the towns and cities in Chile. |
 |
Wonderful veggies! - In Villa Alemana vegetables for sale on the street. Look at the size of the artichokes! Near lunch time one also finds bags of cooked vegetables for sale on the street. |
 |
Kids will be kids! - Villa Alemana – kids on their way home for lunch. In Chile kids go home for lunch between 1 and 4.
Kids wear uniforms but in school they also
have to wear a white lab-type coat in class over their uniforms. It was
strange to see kids in school uniform smoking but that seemed to be fine
in Chile. |
 |
First-world transport! - Villa Alemana – suburban trains come every 8 minutes – going to
Valparaiso. The trains are 4 coaches long and clean inside and out, and heated. There is piped classical music on the stations. |
 |
Most photogenic! - Carola and
Neil on the train. They had been married in a civil ceremony earlier in the week. |
 |
Quality transport! - Low backs. Clean train. The doors open only if you press a button. |

was much better than my non-existent Spanish. |
 |

 |
Marvellous dish made by Carola’s mother
