Santiago

We took a 2 hour bus trip from Villa Alemana to Santiago. It dropped us at a terminus from whence we took the underground into the centre of the city to explore.  Went to Plaza de la Constitucion, the Museum of Pre Columbian Art, had lunch and then went to the Cerro Santa Lucia.  I was most impressed with the artifacts left by the Indians of southern America. Debbie was a wonderful guide.

Place for souls - On the bus trip to Santiago we went past an important church for good Catholics.  At Easter some people go 20 kms on their knees to visit the church. Look, snow! - Snow on the Andes in the distance. Bus trip - Debbie relaxing on the wonderful intercity bus.
Underground art - Certain stations in the underground have murals on the walls. Official art underground - The art is not normal graffiti but official art - lovely! Lunch at pavement cafe - Visited the cathedral on Plaza Armas and then had lunch. First and only beggar seen on our whole 2 week trip.
Cerro Santa Lucia - At this monument saw learners wth their teacher - kids in uniform smoking and behaving appallingly.  Smog - Appalling air pollution in Santiago. Smog - There is a snow covered mountain peak in the distance.
