Beginning of trip to Chile in June 2006. Cape Town Q Johannesburg Q Sao Paulo Q Santiago (in total 33 hours). Was most irritated when we left Johannesburg International Airport: that the customs official could not find the numbers on the computer keyboard number pad; only half the stations were open; the total chaos found at our "Gateway to Africa" airport. Our flight from Sao Paulo was delayed by 3 hours because of Varig's pending bankruptcy so we only arrived in Santiago at 04h00 instead of 00h05. Patti and Neil kindly waited and waited for our arrival.
