The way home from Bariloche ...
Flight from Bariloche to Buenos Aires was uneventful. In Buenos Aires we met
Harvey's sister and brother-in-law who were there for a holiday, for dinner. We stayed at the Bristol
hotel overlooking a road with 7 lanes in one direction, 7 lanes in the other and
3 lanes additional lanes.
On arriving at the airport the following morning we were met with news that our
Varig flight had been cancelled. Varig had apparently gone bankrupt.
The Varig staff put us on a Lufthansa flight for Sao Paulo. The plane
arrived late at Sao Paulo and we missed our connecting flight to Johannesburg.
The check in counter at Sao Paulo airport was total chaos with hundreds of people trying to
get somewhere with cancelled/delayed flights.
After many ... many trials and tribulations we arrived home one day later than
anticipated.

Buenos Aires - We met with Maureen and
Jonathan for an Argentinian steak dinner. Before dinner I had a wonderful time
shopping for shoes, belts, books and CDs in a car less street. |
 |
Night before we left - We walked back
to the hotel from dinner and saw many people buying last minute
memorabilia before Argentina played Germany in the Soccer World Cup
quarter finals. |
 |
Monument - View outside our Bristol
Hotel window was magnificent. |
 |
Interesting church - In distance on
the road from the city centre to the airport of Buenos Aires. |
 |
Drive to the airport of Buenos Aires
uneventful - Gave no indication of the chaos to follow. |

#$!|&*!! Swear words! -
The following morning we left our hotel early to get to the airport. It
was an important day for the Brazilians as they, including me, were
cheering for their team in the semi finals of the World Cup. |
